An old Cherokee told his grandson, “My son, there is a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy and truth.”
The boy thought about it, and asked, “Grandfather, which wolf wins?”
The old man quietly replied, “The one you feed.” – Author Unknown
When we’re born we aren’t born evil so the only conclusion you can come to is that it is learned behaviour. A baby’s education starts from the day they’re born and they become sponges learning things from parents, grandparents, friends and the environment. If the household is in turmoil then that is what a baby learns and believes it to be normal behaviour. They mimic everything you do, so you have to choose your words and actions carefully.
When you grow up and become an adult, it is your choice on which path you choose to take. What a lot of people don’t understand is that you are responsible for your own actions, so if you choose to be evil then the consequences of your life become yours and yours alone. No one but you can choose the path you’re on. I take responsibility for my own life, but unfortunately a lot of people blame others for their misdeeds.
Some people have a grandiose idea of themselves so it feeds their self esteem to harm others whether physically or emotionally. It’s not a good way to live and the majority of the population will reject this way of life.
I, personally, cannot bear the thought of hurting someone. It’s not in me to say something that I will regret later or do something to physically hurt another person. I have chosen to treat others the way I like to be treated, and that’s with love, kindness and respect. I hope you choose the same.
